One of the best restorative yoga poses for women

One of the greatest gifts yoga had for women is the restorative yoga practices. These poses soothe the nervous system, slow down the mind, and help you to feel rested and present.

They also help align your posture, slow your breathing, and improve your pelvic floor - without doing anything but resting.

You can slip into these postures daily, weekly, monthly... or just whenever you feel like it.

If you want the whole experience, light a candle, put on some soothing music, and close your yes as you sink into a blissful, restorative, and peaceful state of being.

This is one of my all time favourite restorative yoga postures.

Viparita Karani (legs-up the wall)

Lie perpendicular to wall on your side with your knees bent and your hips/buttocks touching the wall, then swing your legs up as you roll on to your back. If you feel any pain or discomfort in your lower back, simply wiggle a little further away from the wall until the discomfort has gone.

Close your eyes, take a couple of deep breathes in and long slow breaths out, then rest into the floor for a few minutes or longer. When you are ready to come back to sitting, roll onto your side and pause here for a few moments before slowly coming back up to sitting.

If you can't find comfort in this pose, simply lie on your back with a cushion under the back of your knees and try again another time. You may like to try this video for releasing hip and back pain (good for pregnancy as well as any other time).
